Bright Future

“…… even to hoar hairs will I carry you;”   (Isaiah 46:4)

Nowadays there are many lotions, hair colors, coloring combs and hair creams sold in the market. Many people use them and feel proud. There are many commercials on the TV as well. They say, "a secret must be a secret”, “be confident”, “we will make you confident”, and “this is the secret to looking younger.”

What is the point? In reality when men and women have white or grey hair they start feeling themselves to be old and useless, a negative segment of society. Trying to hide their grey hair they color them so that they look young again. Shall we dye our hair or not? I am not against the people who dye their hair; everybody has a free choice.

Why do we hide our grey hair? Do we fear old age? Are we not ready to open our eyes to the realities of old age?

How do people address us when they see our grey hair: uncle, father, grandpa, mama or grandma? Perhaps we prefer to hear people call us, son, brother, daughter or sister. When we hear these words, we feel good. This world is the friend of good days and youthful strength. But God is at all times a good and faithful friend.

In difficult times, joyful moments, tragedy, old age, youth, weakness and strength, hope and hopelessness, He is the only faithful one, a true friend who will never leave us nor forsake us.

…….I will in no wise fail thee; neither will I in any wise forsake thee” (Heb 13:5).

“……..I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine” (Isa 43:1).

“Hoar Hairs”

God made these promises and they were extended to every member of the nation of Israel; anyone who feared God and followed His commands. In the same fashion this promise is today available to every believer of the New Testament, those who truly love the Lord and follow His commands.

“and even to old age I am he, and even to hoar hairs will I carry you;”

God takes care of us in our old age. There is a lot of contradiction in man’s thinking. Many people say that they are forgotten in their old age. According to research in United Kingdom,  the most  painful factor in the lives of old people is that nobody in the family talks to them, even their own children.

These old people at one time in their lives may have worked very hard for their children, to give them a good education, to help them achieve a very honorable status in society. But now there is a great gap in the relationship of parents with their children. The old folks say, “Now we are old. Now this world, our family, and our own children don’t need us.

“…will I carry you;”

Every day a mother carries her little baby and after a time she feels tired. Then she asks the grandma or grandpa, elder brother or elder sister to take the baby, or she asks someone else in the family to carry the baby. Or she puts him in a pram or swing. But God’s love and care for his children—from the time of their birth through childhood, teenage years, young adult, and even into old age—is the same at all times.

“and even to hoar hairs will I carry you;”

1.      The mighty hand of God never gets tired.

The mighty, caring and loving hand of God always takes care of his children. It protects them. It is always ready to help them. His arm is strong in power and majesty.

2.      The eyes of the Lord watch over his people.

His eyes roam around the whole earth to help his people. He is always ready to help.

“For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; for from henceforth thou shalt have wars” (2Chronicles 16:9).

3.      God protects his people.

God takes good care of his handicraft.

“They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.” (Psalm 91:12)

God takes care of his people in darkness, hopelessness, sickness, weakness and even in old age. He made man in his own image. In the garden of Eden God blew His breath of life into the nostrils of Adam; in the Garden of Gethsemane through Christ His blood was shed on the Cross.

In breath and blood… both have life.

4.      God provides for the needs of his people.

He is the provider. He is the creator of the whole universe. Whatever flies in the skies, what is on the earth, whatever is under the earth and what ever is deep down in the sea; God provides for them all.

“These wait all for thee, That thou mayest give them their food in due season. Thou givest unto them, they gather; Thou openest thy hand, they are satisfied with good” (Psalm 104:27-28).

He provides for everyone. He even provides for those who deny his Person and existence. He cares the most for those who wholeheartedly trust him.

5.      God cares.

He cares for you. He thinks about you. He has called you by your name. Your name has been engraved on his palm.

“casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you”(1Peter 5:7).

He does not slumber nor sleep. He never lacks in His power of protection and provision. The Creator always looks at His creation with great interest. His creation is precious and valuable in His sight. He loves His creation, desires its betterment, defends and protects it.

6.      God loves us.

He manifested his love through his son on the cross.

“For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly” (Rom 5:6).

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things?” (Rom 8:32)

You and I are alive just due to His love and we enjoy the blessings of life. Through His sufferings we are the partakers of the heavenly joy. By believing in Him and in His name, we are the partakers of the Divine nature.

“whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust” (2Peter 1:4).

In the same love, the Son of God sacrificed Himself for us that we may come close to the Father. He suffered the death, that through His death we may have life eternal. That is why this is His greatest promise: “and even to hoar hairs will I carry you;”

7.      God’s promise for a long life.

“Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise),” (Ephesians 6:2)

This is his promise:

a) God gives us long life that we may live for him and help those who suffer.

b) We may share the Good News of salvation with others.

8.      God promises that he will take care of us.

God never forgets His promise. God is not man that he may forget His promise. Heaven and earth may move away but the words of His mouth will never. His promises are eternal. They are positive, they are with yes; they are affirmative. But if a man forsakes God then God also deals with him according to his dealing and attitude.

9.      When the world totally leaves us then God comes close to us.

This time or these moments bring the presence of God more closely to us, if we truly trust Him.

“Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

“And he said, ‘Certainly I will be with thee’;” (Exodus 3:12)

“and even to hoar hairs will I carry you;”

Remember that the mighty hand of God never gets tired. His eyes are constantly watching over you. He takes good care of you. He meets all of your needs. He cares for you. He loves you. He promises to give you long life. He promises to sustain you and keep you. When the world totally ignores you then God comes closer to you. Remember always because He said so;

“and even to old age I am he, and even to hoar hairs will I carry you;

I have made, and I will bear; yea, I will carry, and will deliver.”

”Do you believe in his promise? Believe in his promises, and cling to them. This is the sign of Christian faith and the guarantee of a bright future.
