Some two thousand years ago Lord Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead, with great power.
Is it a reality?
Is it a myth?
Did the disciples of Lord Jesus Christ see Him after the resurrection?
Was it not a hallucination?
Was it a lie?
The disciples of Lord Jesus Christ told about the resurrection, and with the passage of time it became a well-known fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
Still today, there are many questions in the minds of critics. How it is possible that a person could be resurrected from the dead after three days? It is not possible! If Jesus had been risen from the dead, then why are not all people raise from the dead?
Perhaps Jesus ascended before his crucifixion?
Perhaps Jesus was unconscious, and then when He woke up it was assumed that He rose from the dead.
Perhaps the women mistakenly went to the wrong tomb and then spread the news that Jesus was no longer there.
The objection and criticism of every individual is right in his own view. Whatever he thinks it is absolutely right in his sight. The freedom of expression is the basic right of every individual. We cannot change the thought pattern of anyone, nor can we force anyone to think the way that we do. Every person has the freedom to think logically, within the parameters and boundaries that support their principles.
The question that begs is: Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from the dead?
1. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
Lord Jesus Christ came from Heaven, He was divine. He was not of this world, so the tomb could not keep Him in her womb. On the third day He rose from the dead with great power.
Jesus is divine, He alone is divine and that is why Lord Jesus Christ is God.
2. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead because He is God.
Lord Jesus Christ said it from His own lips:
“Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”
John 8:58 KJV
Then he said to Philip:
“Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?”
John 14:9 KJV
Now another question arises, if He is God then why did He die?
God can never die. In fact, Lord Jesus Christ was both a man and God at the same time. But, He was not a human being like we are; He was not weak and did not fall into temptation. He was perfect in every way, a perfect man and a perfect God.
“….. but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”
Hebrews 4:15 KJV
Jesus was born a human being in order to save you and me. If He had directly manifested Himself as God to the world and therefore to human beings, the human beings could have never grasped His glory. Therefore, His majesty would have been dead.
Is Jesus Christ God? There is no question that Jesus Christ is God. He was (and in fact is) God. He is perfect. He was not born by human intention, but instead, He was born by the Spirit of God. He came out of God.
In a similar way, any product that is made out of raw material may come in various forms or shapes. And, even though we can name the different forms and shapes, we know that the product still came from the raw material. Likewise, iron is the raw material that is used to make a vehicle. But after the vehicle is assembled it is called a vehicle, even though it is still iron.
In the same manner, when a child is born of a human being the child is a human being no matter what name you may give him.
Jesus Christ was born of God (He came out of God) and therefore, Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Also, Jesus was born with and by the power of God - the power of the Holy Spirit.
This can be very difficult for a common human being to comprehend. Christians and non-Christians alike accept the fact that Jesus was born without a human father, but instead by the power of the Holy Spirit. But then, even so, in our finite minds we are shocked when Jesus calls God His Father.
The absolute truth of the matter is that:
-God the Father…is God
-The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God…is God
-The Holy Spirit of God…is God
3. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
Because Jesus is the Son of God, who came from the Father. He was Son of God, and, He was God. He was the provider, He fed the hungry. He was the healer, healing came from Him. He was both perfectly God and perfectly man. As a perfect man He died…but as perfect God He lives…the tomb and death kneel before him.
4. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
Lord Jesus Christ claimed;
“….. I am the way, the truth, and the life”
John 14:6 KJV
Beyond giving physical life to human beings, Jesus also had the power to give spiritual life to human beings. He himself was life; he was the giver of life. So, how was it possible for death to take hold of Him? Yes, Jesus died for the wages of sin for all people, He had to die, but due to His deity and divinity He was raised from the dead.
5. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
Because Lord Jesus Christ also claimed;
“Therefore, doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
John 10:17 KJV
“No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.”
John 10:18 KJV
“From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.”
Matthew 16:21 KJV
And, Jesus being raised from the dead proved His claim.
6. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
Because Jesus Himself, was the resurrection. Resurrection means to stand up or to rise up, for example first a tent is close or packed, it is lying on the ground, and then it is erected or raised. On the death of Lazarus, comforting his sisters Mary and Martha, Jesus said, I am the resurrection.
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:”
John 11:25 KJV
7. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from the dead?
So that as the believer lives in this world, he may have the boldness to live a victorious and hopeful life. Death is certain. Every person has to face death. He has to taste death. This is an unchanging truth.
The life of a Christian, meaning: the trust and faith of a believer in the divine person of Lord Jesus Christ, the forgiveness of sins, eternal life and to be a citizen of heaven, the name of every believer written in the book of life, and to have eternal life, citizenship in Heaven, to be with the Lord forevermore are the realities that would not be possible apart from the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ
The resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ is profitable in your life and in mine, when we truly believe the Gospel; in Jesus’ death on the cross, His burial and raising from the dead on the third day.
When this is true in our lives we can say along with Apostle Paul:
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 KJV
8. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
So that we, like Jesus, may go back to his Father in heaven. Jesus was raised from the dead and then seen by his disciples for forty days before He ascended into heaven. Bu doing so He fulfilled the purpose of his heavenly Father, according to the Father’s will. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was essential in order for Him to be once again exalted.
9. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
So that He may come back to the earth again. Before His death, Lord Jesus Christ comforted his disciples in this manner:
“In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:2 KJV
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
John 14:3 KJV
10. Why did Lord Jesus Christ raise from dead?
In order to judge the world. This very special purpose in coming back to this earth is so that He will judge the nations and give justice to the world.
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:”
Matthew 25:31 KJV
“And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:”
Matthew 25:32 KJV
“And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.”
Matthew 25:33 KJV
We follow and worship a Person who is alive, who gives life, and who changes lives, while ascending to heaven, he said to his disciples;
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:20 KJV
Why? Because Jesus Christ is alive.
Happy resurrection day of our Lord Jesus Christ to you and to your family.
Blessings.
